Teachers of The Art Of Belly Dance Academy
Eva Green - founder, director
Associate teacher: Nancy Englefield, trained by Eva Green, qualified fitness instructor teaching Yoga Inspired Fitness, Conditioning and Dance classes. Dance background is in jazz, ballet and flamenco and, having been introduced to the fascinating world of oriental dance a few years ago, she also teaches Belly dance courses.
Teacher: Edit Toth has been dancing since 2005. She has been trained in Hungary by Nadah and in London by Eva Green. She is dancing since 2005 and continuously developing her knowledge. Edit teaches beginners belly dance class in North London and deeply enjoys teaching.
Trainee Teacher: Sophie Llewellyn, She trained and competed in Latin American, Ballroom and Ballet for 16 years before discovering Middle Eastern dance and this has been her main passion since 2007. She is currently training to become a certified teacher of the Academy.
Class levels:
One term is 2x6=12 weeks. Four terms are equivalent to a year of study. The levels below are based on s student coming to classes regularly, at least twice a week. If you come once a week - you will need to stay on your level longer.
Beginners: anyone who has done less then four consecutive terms.
Improvers: anyone who has done at least four consecutive terms
Intermediates: anyone who has done at least eight consecutive terms
Advanced: anyone who has done at least twelve consecutive terms
Clothes: wear comfortable but relatively tight top and trousers with a bright coloured hipscarf. You can dance barefooted or in belly dance or ballet shoes.
Syllabus:
Beginners: posture, foundation, building blocks, folkloric steps, static movements, short choreography, cultural and historical aspects
Improvers: basic movements, folkloric dances, isolations, dynamic movements, choreography, combinations
Intermediates: movement combinations and transitions, isolation and layering, basic rhythms, recognition of different music and dance styles, Balady, Props: veil, stick and candles,
Advanced: isolation and layering combinations, complex rhythms, the system of Arabic music, transitions between movements, Raqs Sharqui, fusion dances, Props: Isis wings, double veils, performance training, stylization, for Professional dance or Teacher training - please, email for details

Private classes
Private classes: £30/session in my private mirrored studio, (subjects can be discussed ahead and/or assessment of dance level and technique can be provided)
Personalised 6-week practice program is available. This program includes an initial individual assessment at the beginning of the six week program (45 min), a personalised 6-week practice program - you practise at home, a midpoint online assessment (you video your dance and send it to me, I email back the results), a final assessment at the end of the 6-week program (45 min). Price: £60
PERSONIALISED TEACHER/PERFORMER TRAINING PROGRAM FOR ADVANCED LEVEL DANCERS ONLY:
The training includes the following principles: Fitness, posture, foundation, basic movements, isolations/layerings and combinations, transitions, musical training, performance training, cultural training, stylisation, props, choreographies.
The length and depth of training depends on the individual level and will be discussed personally. Audition for the program is obligatory.
Choreographies for solo dancers or troupes can be created and taught.
